Fall Update

Rosie and Kuz...

Update from Rosie Brennan-

Every dark, cold, rainy November is filled with the constant murmurs of “when will it snow?” “this weather sucks” “I’m sick of rollerskiing” while at the same time skiers are trying to get psyched for racing with thoughts of “its go time” and “get ready to race” running through their heads. Unfortunately the two do not mesh. No matter what we do the weather doesn’t change.

So in the words of Ruff Patterson:
“there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!”
No matter what kind of New England s*** comes our way, we gear up and head out the door for whatever was planned. And is it ever that bad? NO! It makes you tough as nails and gives you great memories of epic adventures. And if you’ve got freshmen around, there’s always a hot sauna waiting at the end.

Ruff is always right, quit complaining, get out the door (with the proper clothing of course), get tough, and with Cami’s words of wisdom, make sure it’s fun.
Why bother training if you’re not having fun? Skiing is all about the passion and energy we bring everyday to get the most out of every workout. Use your team, make every workout worth it and most importantly make sure you’ve got a smile on at the end of the day. Don’t get consumed by the dreary November days, take time to relax and have fun!

We have had a good fall of all kinds of TTs, big adventures and even a little team building. Ida and I had quite the adventure running on the AT in the dark this week.

TRUST your teammates

Love your teammates

go for it

Mooseilauke TT! This one actually happened on a beautiful day. Our Pineys, Middlebury, GMVS, and a few more gutsy people showed up. Get tough!

Nils Koons had a valiant effort

Hannah Dreissigacker killing it to the top.

Most importantly have FUN!

Update from Garrott Kuzzy

On the road again. . .

It’s that time of the year. My favorite time of year. Temperatures are getting colder, birds are flying south, and skiers are making their annual pilgrimmage west. The dryland training is finished. It’s time to see who’s been working hard this summer, making hay while the sun shines.

The CXC Team hit the road at 6am on Friday morning. Everyone’s excited to get on snow.

18 hours is a long time to spend in the van.

By 4pm on Saturday we made it to West Yellowstone.  Hurry, let’s unload the trailer so we can go skiing!

Finally at the trailhead with a couple more minutes of daylight.

Good thing we brought rock skis. . .

The skiing in the woods is surprisingly good, all things considered,

and the trail is holding up alright.

A big meal sure hits the spot after a long day of travel.

The hay’s in the barn. We’re ready for winter!
